HeX Productions does DIY SOS!

This morning, we volunteered to help rebuild and redecorate rooms at Derbyshire County Cricket Club to create a new community space in a DIY SOS-style project.

What?

More than 150 people turned up over the space of two days to make the project a reality, converting a former changing room at Derbyshire County Cricket Club into a space which can host community programmes delivered by the Cricket Derbyshire Foundation.

On Thursday, most of the ‘hard work’ was done, with walls being knocked down and carpets ripped up. Luckily, Friday left us with the nice jobs of painting, decorating, and furniture building before our 3pm deadline.

We took our paintbrushes and hardhats and got stuck in!

Who?

Hodgkinson Builders has been leading the project at the 3aaa Pavilion. The first of the programmes to be held there is designed to support and provide advice for those affected by suicide and mental health issues.

Ian Hodgkinson said: “We are aware that so many people are touched by suicide and mental health issues and this space can to be a focal point for groups to use for survivors, carers and to raise awareness of this subject matter. What seems impossible can become possible with access to the right help and support.”

We are very proud to support this work, and do our bit for such a fantastic cause.

The makeover now means two rooms are available, after having been turned into one open space featuring computer terminals, sofas, disabled access and its own toilets. The room will be used to deliver the Opening Up Cricket programme and will also be used for schools for open learning and other community programmes.
