Accessibility Training with Winchester University

Thursday 5th November – Friday 6th November

Aims and objectives

This workshop will be a practical two days on how making the small changes to your website and content workflow can make the world of difference. You will learn:

  • The WCAG 2.1 guidelines and how this works with the UK accessibility legislation
  • How to produce accessible content and social posts
  • What is assistive technology and understand how your work is interpreted
  • Performing an audit and reacting to the results

Thursday 5th November 2020

09:30 – 10:30 – Introduction into accessibility, responsibility from project conception to go live.

This will cover accessibility awareness, design, development and content

10:30 – 11:00 – Wireframe and design analysis

Using three designs and a wireframe what issues are we going to spot from external designers. What tools can be used to assist in the review.

11:00 – 11:30 – Bringing together what we have learned plus Q & A Session

We will go through a typical development as part of this exercise.

Friday 6th November 2020

09:30 – 10:00 – Recap and any questions

10:00 – 10:45 – Web Content

Going through what to consider when creating accessible digital content for a website

10:45 – 11:00 – Social Media

This will cover best practices of how to create accessible social content

11:00 – 11:30 – Assistive technology demonstration with Winchester University web pages.
