Our training on Deaf Awareness will take your organisation through an interactive and informative workshop on how all employees, from customer services staff members, to top level directors can become Deaf aware.
One third of the world’s population are hard of hearing (HOH). There are more than 800,000 users of British Sign Language (BSL) in the UK, and for many, the way that these users communicate is different to those that are not Deaf.
Organisations need to understand the best way to communicate with Deaf people and understand the common barriers they face.
We aim to cover the following information as a basic introduction into Deaf Awareness, helping your organisation become more Deaf aware:
- Terminology – Deaf/Hard of Hearing/Hearing impaired
- Definitions of deafness
- British Sign Language (BSL)
- Basic BSL communication
- Other ways of communication
- How your organisation can best communicate with Deaf users
- Delivering services to Deaf people using online methods
- Working with an interpreter
Our Deaf Awareness workshop is available to anyone, at any level of their career, but most suited to those who interact with customers or users on a day-to-day basis.
Our aim is to help organisations upscale their communication offering, becoming more inclusive to Deaf users.
It is possible for us to deliver a basics workshop via an online video conference call.
