We are thrilled to announce the winners of our free accessible web development competition!
Understanding the vital work that charitable organisations do, we wanted to give back in the best way our experts know how. To commemorate HeX’s 10th Birthday, we launched an exciting opportunity for a charity or not-for-profit organisation to win a free website build with our team.
It was a tough decision, after receiving entries from incredibly worthwhile and meaningful causes. After careful consideration, there was one clear winner – Disability Equality Scotland. The charity’s vision, which is to advocate for better lives for disabled people, perfectly aligns with our own organisational ethos and we can’t wait to get started on this important project.

Who are Disability Equality Scotland?
Disability Equality Scotland (DES) is a national organisation, who works to achieve access and inclusion for every disabled person in Scotland.
The passionate team promotes accessibility in both physical and digital forms.
This includes vital work to provide:
- Access to online information and services in the natural environment.
- Inclusive communication.
- Inclusion in decision-making, including inclusive design and access to safe transport.
In turn, ensuring disabled people across Scotland have the same access rights, equal opportunities, and independence as everyone else.
The accessible web development project
Over the coming months, our web development experts will be working closely in partnership with the Disability Equality Scotland team on this exciting project.
HeX will be designing and building a completely new, accessible and user-friendly website that supports the charity’s core values. This new powerful online presence will help to propel their important mission in raising awareness, attracting supporters, and making a difference for the community; strengthening their commitment to making a lasting impact.
Lyn Pornaro, CEO of Disability Equality Scotland, said:
“We are proud to have won the HeX Productions accessible website competition and thrilled to be partnering with their team.
Announcing this partnership on Global Accessibility Awareness Day is a timely reminder of the importance of digital inclusion.
It is essential that our online presence continues to reflect best practice in accessibility, usability, and inclusive communication. By collaborating with those who share our vision, we aim to develop a website that truly reflects our values and is accessible to all.”
